We work with other organisations and tradesmen to facilitate home modifications and prescribe equipment. We work closely with other community organisations to ensure people have access to the maximum number of services available to them.
We Work as a Team
To provide the best quality care and support to the older people that we work with, it is vital that we work closely and collaboratively with other health professionals and organisations involved in their care. It is essential that everyone is aware of each other’s involvement and the overarching goals to ensure we are working towards the same outcomes.
We understand that applying for funding can be overwhelming. We can assist with My Aged Care referrals and Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (MASS) applications to ensure that people have access to the maximum amount of services that they are eligible for.
We offer a wide range of education, training and professional development options for health professionals, anyone working in the aged sector, carers and families.
We Work with Families and Carers
Families and carers are the glue that keeps everyone together so we know how important it is for us to work with everyone involved. Families and carers are often under a lot of stress and pressure so we try to alleviate some of that and work with them so they feel equipped to provide support to their loved one.
We offer a range of education and training options for carers and families as well as free resources to download.
We Work with those Living with Dementia
Evidence supports the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions in conjunction with prescribed medications for treating common symptoms of dementia (e.g. agitation, depression and aggression) to improve a person’s quality of life. Several of our occupational therapists have a special interest in Dementia Rehabilitation models and provide services using these frameworks.
If you would like more information on any of our Dementia Rehabilitation services and how they are integrated into our holistic aged care services in Townsville, please send us an email.
Do I Need A Referral?
If you are not eligible for any government assistance and will be paying privately then you don't need a referral for any of our services. Give us a call to make an appointment for you to see an occupational therapist.
If you are over 65 then you will be eligible for a My Aged Care assessment and can go to https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/ to make an appointment for an assessment. My Aged Care is a Government portal that supports people over the age of 65 with funding to support them to stay at home for as long as possible. You can request a referral to Apricus Health when you speak to, or meet with, an assessor.
If you are already connected to a community organisation such as Anglicare, Bolton Clarke, Right at Home or Ozcare, then you can speak to your case manager about getting a referral to Apricus Health.
If you are a Veteran with a Department of Veterans Affairs Gold or White card, then you can speak to your GP about getting a D904 referral sent to us and we will contact you once we have received it to make an appointment.
There is a lot of funding available to assist people over the age of 65 so if you are unsure of what you might be entitled to, would like more information on any of our services or would like someone to contact you please send us an email.
