At Apricus Health, we believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, high-quality healthcare.
We are here to help you find the right funding options to suit your needs, so you can access the occupational therapy and physiotherapy services you require to live well.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Apricus Health is a registered NDIS provider, delivering a range of occupational therapy and allied health services to NDIS participants across Townsville and surrounding areas. If you have not yet been approved for NDIS funding, we can assist you by providing therapist reports, assessments, and supporting documentation for your application.

We work with:

  • Self-managed participants

  • Plan-managed participants

  • NDIA-managed participants (depending on service type)

The NDIS is managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). To learn more or check your eligibility, visit www.myplace.ndis.gov.au.

Privately Funded Clients

We warmly welcome privately funded clients.
No referral is necessary — simply contact us to arrange an appointment for occupational therapy or hand therapy at our clinics.

Private funding gives you the flexibility to access services quickly without needing approval processes. Our team will work with you to design a care plan that suits your goals.

Private Health Funds

Depending on your level of private health cover, you may be able to claim a rebate for occupational therapy or hand therapy services. We offer HICAPS facilities at Apricus Health for instant, on-the-spot claiming with most major Australian health funds, and our friendly admin team are able to provide quote estimates before your appointment to determine your rebate.

Please note:
Some health funds require that your cover specifies physiotherapy in order to claim for certain types of therapy. Please advise our reception staff when booking so we can match you with the most appropriate therapist.

Medicare Rebates – Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans

(also known as Enhanced Primary Care Plans, EPC)

If you have a chronic medical condition that has lasted or is likely to last six months or longer, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for allied health services under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan.

Conditions may include:

  • Arthritis

  • Diabetes

  • Musculoskeletal injuries

  • Stroke recovery

  • Burns and post-surgical rehabilitation

Your GP can prepare a CDM Plan, giving you access to up to five rebated appointments per calendar year with an allied health provider such as an occupational therapist or physiotherapist.

Important:
The Medicare rebate does not fully cover the cost of an appointment.
There will be a small out-of-pocket fee, and we are happy to provide a quote before your first booking.

If you need additional therapy sessions:
After your five rebated sessions are used, you are welcome to continue your therapy with us as a privately funded client, or you can speak to our team about your eligibility for other funding types.
Our friendly team can discuss options tailored to your ongoing needs.

Department of Veterans Affairs

Apricus Health proudly provides occupational therapy services for veterans with Gold or White DVA cards.

How to access services:

  • Obtain a D904 referral from your GP (this must be done in person).

  • Each referral covers up to 12 appointments (including telehealth) or 12 visits, whichever is reached first.

  • If you are receiving different types of therapy (e.g., community occupational therapy and hand therapy services), you will need separate DVA referrals for each area.

Our experienced team has extensive experience working with veterans across rehabilitation, injury management, and functional independence.

If you need more than 12 sessions:
When your referral expires, you can return to your GP to request a new D904 referral if clinically needed.
Our team is happy to help guide you through this process.

Workers' Compensation and Third-Party Insurers (CTP Claims)

Apricus Health accepts clients with approved Workers' Compensation or Compulsory Third Party (CTP) claims.

If your claim is approved:

  • You will not have to pay upfront for appointments,

  • We bill the insurer directly.

Key requirements:

  • You must have a current referral from your treating doctor or rehabilitation provider.

  • Workers' Compensation clients must also maintain an up-to-date medical certificate throughout their rehabilitation program.

We work closely with insurers, case managers and employers to support safe and sustainable return-to-work outcomes.

Apricus Health is an approved provider of allied health services for Australian Defence Force members under BUPA arrangements.

If you are currently serving in the Australian Defence Force and covered under BUPA, we can work with you and your Defence health team to deliver appropriate therapy services, including hand therapy, occupational therapy and rehabilitation.
